This project is an interpretation of Georges Perec’s 1974 novel ‘Species of Spaces’. Taking a small passage about bed, I translated my interpretation into a film and from the into a book and series of images.

In the passage I chose, Perec speaks of bed as ‘the individual space’, the ‘improbable place where I had my roots’. I relate deeply to this passage, bed has always been an important space for me, a constant in forever changing rooms and contexts. It speaks of intimacy, of body, of dreams and of safety. This work is an attempt to capture these sentiments. I aimed to capture the way beds, as almost universal objects, transform and are transformed by individual subjectivities. Becoming its own universe, grounded in intimacy, comfort and safety.
